Although cooking is stressful and so are some family members, I love celebrating the birth of Christ and remembering the true meaning of this season.

If by holiday you mean Christmas, I get excited. Question should be worded better. I have never known anyone to celebrate just a holiday, each have have a name and time of year.

Family issues! All holidays are at my husband's mother's house and our grown children and small grandchildren are all expected to attend. Daughter is not coming. Husband is beyond himself...

While I still have some childlike enthusiasm about the holidays, the stressors of being an adult seems to bring slightly more dread than the childlike enthusiasm.

5 years ago my two youngest grandsons (3 years old and 21 months old) were murdered by their father who went on local news and blamed my daughter. Needless to say not very good memories for this time.

I think Christmas has become fraught with expectations of perfect gift-giving and decorating, in neither of which I excell. Plus my mom and my first husband passed on at christmastime. Sad memories.

I was raised by a super abusive person who did not believe in Christmas, people give to each other, not Jesus Christ. Christmas is too commercialized and people's expectations have become selfish.

Well, I usually eat Thanksgiving dinner at a casino with my sister - our family lives in Canada and it isn't Thanksgiving there / just Thursday.

Our children have always spent their thanksgiving at their in-laws. Since my in-laws passed some 15 years ago, my wife and I have just had a small Turkey breast for sandwiches since.

I enjoy a deep breath and loving relationship. We are each other's rock, friend and stable place in a truly crazy world. Being single was fun, but can't compare to 30 years of this kind of love .

if you knew my husband you would understand. He is really my other part....not half- because it is not always "equal" sometimes he is the stronger, more stable one, sometimes I am. I love you Bob

Better to have a partner to love and share things with and support each other. I don't believe it is the same if couples never marry.

I have been married for over 30 years and love my husband very much. We don't always agree, but he can always make me laugh. When he hugs me, I feel safe and warm. Beats being single by far!
