The fact that the first Iron Man worked, and was able to kickstart the greatest cinematic universe of all time, is incredible. Stark completed his character arc from irresponsible playboy to humble and self-sacrificing protector. The ending was perfect. Coming back would just tarnish the integrity of the story.
