They could develop him just like the Packers did with Rogers. Not only would it help the Saints out but it may help Brees step his game up for the remainder of his career.

Because I want to see the Saints waste a pick.

Pull an Aaron Rodgers and let the new guy sit a year.

Brees isn't guaranteed to last the 4 years of the rookie's deal. The rookie could be prepped and ready to play for cheap going into a 2nd deal.

While Brees is still an outstanding option at QB and insists that he can play "forever", he is getting older and the Saints need to find the guy to begin their next chapter after Brees calls it quits. This year's class of QBs offers many solid guys that will have plenty of time to develop and learn under one of the best passers in the game right now.

With his age beginning to show with his play, Brees needs to start to groom his heir to learn to run this offense successfully.

Brees' age plus you want to be able to sit the rookie for a year or two minimum to allow him to get up to speed and get hungry.

Second round because the saints can sitll win a SB and won't spend such a highd raft pick on a player who won't help immeditatley.

Taking a QB means they are building for the future instead of pushing for a Super Bowl. As long as they have Brees, they will be pushing for a Super Bowl.

With Brees still close to his prime, you need as many "impact now" players you can get your hands on, not stock for the future.

They are not a 12-4 team this time. They are limping to the playoffs (hopefully) with what, 6-7 wins? Colt McCoy is a great example of how you can find great young QB in FA. Zach Mettenberger has proven you can find at least a somewhat competent one in the final rounds of the draft.

Building a team does not start with a QB, it may accelerate with one, but the team needs to build by getting OL and DL to then put more glamorous pieces into the mix 2-3 years down the line. Grabbing a QB that will sit on the bench doesn't accomplish anything.

Nah. We need a top CB in the 1st and LB or OL help. 3rd round or later...Yes. I would look at maybe bringing in a Kirk Cousins or similar to compete for back up as well.

because those picks are best spent on something else like Defense.
