Trent Richardson is too fresh in GMs' minds.

Drafting RB in the top half just doesn't match up with the value of RBs in drafts now. Too many teams are finding success with mid round picks and RB committees, not many coaches believe a "bell cow" is necessary any more.

The Jags traded four picks including their 1st rounder to the Ravens for the right to select Harvey #8 in the 2008 NFL Draft. Harvey only made it 3 seasons in Jacksonville before flaming out of the league following a stop in Denver and Cincy the following two seasons. Show Less

Gabbert was bad but people forget Garrard basically had a career ending injury which left them with Luke McCown as their only QB, also Gene Smith was a horrid GM anyway. The Harvey pick is the bigger busy because of the amount of picks traded and how that equated to a Super Bowl win for the Ratbirds. The Gabbert bust just allowed the Washington Football Team to acquire BustG3.

Being a Ravens fan, I know that this trade got the ball rolling for them to obtain both Flacco and Rice in this draft. The Jaguars could have gotten both those players instead!

Derrick Morgan had great expectations to be a great DE and a cornerstone of the defense. Blaine Gabbert, although bad, always had a cloud around him from day one. He was drafted way too high, in a position impossible to succeed without significant help. Gabbert was an awful pick and set the Jags back at least 2-3 years, but Morgan was supposed to be a slam dunk

Gabbert never progressed as the QB of the future and is currently holding a clipboard for the 49ers. Think the Jags wish they would have taken J.J. Watt who was picked one spot later at #11?
