Things look to be headed in the right direction but after last years disaster I think they are a year away.

We need to see much improvement in the coaching. There is a reason the coach has never won a conference championship.
I think the talent and coaching is there and set up for success but I feel it's going to be another year or two before we start seeing great success.

The coaches don't know how to run an offense that utilizes the current tallent. Without dedication to a run game that involves a heavy dose of option and the use of o-line depth I fear this team will struggle. I'm hearing the same spring talk I did last year and expect to see the same offense.

Until they get a consistent QB in place, great O-line all the way across, and decent D-line then forget it. I guess that's about 70% of the team.

When they replace Tommy Armstrong with a real Big 10 QB they will have a chance to compete.

The play calling needs to be way better. They need to play to their strengths, take the decisions out of the equation for the qb. Pass defense better get a LOT Better.

Yes and no. Good enough for a surprise breakthrough, but not likely. I'll stick with others: 3rd, maybe 2nd.

The coaching staff does not have me convinced it knows how to handle ball in the Big 10. It was a very poor hire with promises of better days, not impressed at all yet.

Playcalling was great. They played to the team's strength last year, which sadly was the passing game. This year's approach seems to be more run oriented with a true back emerging.
Winning the Big Ten West is NOT an impressive goal. However, this just shows how far the program has fallen. I know that we can win with our talent but the chemistry and strategy has to be such that it utilizes the talents they have to the max. This poll shows our low expectations for the program
ReplyI voted for this side because they do have all the pieces in play to win the west. They have gotten better in every area with young very athletic players in every group. Plus the addition of John Parrela, will guide the Black Shirts in dominating offenses this year!

ReplyThere are pieces on both offence and defense that can be better than last year. The coaches and players are communicating with each other at another improved level as well. And...I'm an optimist.

ReplyWe could have won it last year except for player/coach issues and poor clock management.
ReplyThey have had the talent to win the West division for the last few years, now maybe they can since they now have the right coaching staff in place.
