Absolutely! Especially considering in the very near future we all will be paying a road/mile tax just like the truckers do based on the miles driven in a year. Check it out!

But Bicyles should too, due to the construction and maintenance of bike lanes and sidewalks

I think hybrid/electric cars are good for carbon reduction, but as much of our highway funding is gas taxes, we need to ensure all vehicles pay for roads. The trick will be equalizing it.

While using less gasoline is good, it also means less gas taxes collected for road maintenance and repairs. Everyone should pay their share for the roads everyone uses.

This is the worst thing I have ever heard. We drive cars that are better for the environment and we get taxed because of it......Ridiculous!!

The government and manufacturers create this fallacy that electric cars produce less waste, yet disposal and manufacturing of these batteries causes a larger environmental footprint then oil ever has.

No its not right but you are going to get it, Pluss with all electric cars you will soon be paying a mileage tax because of loss of revenue from gas tax.

They should not be penalized for trying to help the environment if anything the gas guzzlers should have to pay more.

My pickup gets about 16.5 mpg. I'm fine with that because it does what I need it to do. My wife's car gets 33 mpg. I think it is stupid to punish people for purchasing efficient means of travel.

There should be perks and encouragement to purchase efficient, non polluting vehicles. Higher fees for big rigs, studs ...vehicles that are harder on the roads.

We need that money in our own country to help our schools, Medicare and education. Don’t you care about our neighbors and communities?

That money won't help our neighbors and schools when Iranian nukes start hitting our allies and eventually us! That is their goal as they have stated for years!!

If it even needs saying, the Military Industrial Complex is the MOST bloated budget of the entire federal budget. If our current "completely-in-over-his-head" Def Sec + idiot prez hadn't started a completely unnecessary war, we would not have depleted stores of weapons and this be on nobody's radar!

Ka San, You sound like a radical liberal. Guess you'd rather have nukes start flying around in the middle east and then closer to home in a couple years.

As a tax payer and resident of Deschutes County I am tired of my tax dollars being used to clean up the filth the homeless people leave behind. If this is a deterrent for them living there then we won’t have to clean it up again. Thus saving tax payer dollars and the rocks are a better look.
