His resume for developing kids coming in that are more the 3 star kids as it’s rare Nebraska can real in the 4 & especially 5 star kids … he’s proven he can develop those kids into stars that are being drafted into the NFL … something that only Dr Tom could seem to do in the past !

What's happened to the American education system? You keep things "real" whereas you "reel" in players. Come on man!

As a lifelong cornhusker fan, I believe this is just the person to put things back together that were so messed up by the firing of Frankie Solich.

Solich was a HUGE mistake and why we slide into ditch. I guess you forget why Solich was fired...some thing about going up a one way the wrong way ?? I'll leave it at that.

First of all, you can discount all of the "thumbs down" votes that wanted Mickey, they'd vote against any new hire. MJ was the interim coach, he wasn't the next in line, nor was he fired as HC. Rhule commanded the room today, when it took Bill Moos to do this last time out... That tells us a lot

A great speaker with command presence does not equal a great coach. All the talk of toughness, etc. doesn't mean dominating the line of scrimmage, a nasty mean defense, and a ball control off that is run-oriented, all the things we once had with TO and FS. I'll take those things in lieu of wins.

Proven builder and evident respect for Nebraska. So his overall college coaching record is .522; his two year 1s combined it's .125 (3-21) taking over damaged programs; year 2s is .520 (13-12) and his 3 years 3-4 it's .756 (31-10). Looks like a builder to me. Keep MJ and Busch and it should go well.

Why the heck did Husker Nation think they deserved a better candidate than this? Let's be realistic and hope that Rhule is better than Frost and Riley, at minimum. If he's not, God help us.

When it comes to coaching hires, there's no such thing as a "sure thing" or a guarantee of success (see Scott Frost). I think TA did a great job of executing a diligent and thorough nationwide search that resulted in a very good hire. One that gives Nebraska a great chance to turn it around quickly!

Come on, the options were all maybe mediocre at best coaches. Would all be in over their heads in Big 10 just like Frost. KU coach and staff, KSU coach and staff, ISU coach and staff, NCST coach and staff, Army coach and staff, Bronco M and his VA staff? No thank you. Choice was a no brainer.

Just another attempt by wealthy alums to buy a championship. Mickey had heart of team. Smart of Rhule to get 8yr contract. In yr 3 when alums want him gone he'll join list of coaches on payout payroll.

Skeptical, never stayed long enough to measure if his programs were built to last. Bailed from each HC job after having his best year. Almost as if he doubted he could maintain the success.

Good point. If Rhule was so good, why did he leave Temple or BU? One could argue for the $, but he’s obviously not committed to a program for the long run. He played TA for a fool but unfortunately Rhule held all the cards bc TA was desperate.

Wisconsin hiring Luke Fickell was a much better hire. Nebraska pays $9 million for a Matt Rhule who went 2-16 against ranked teams, and Wisconsin pays $6 million for a proven coach who coached at Ohio State and coached Cincinnati to the college football playoff. WTF Nebraska!?

Once again Neb hired the “man” rather than hiring someone who can fix the problems of poor defense and losing on both sides of the line of scrimmage. 64 days? He obviously was not the first choice.

After hearing the press conf, I have to double-down on my thumbs down. He was obviously well-rehearsed to say all the things most people wanted to hear, but there was nothing of real substance. No idea what the team's identity will be but doesn't sound like ball control. I miss the TO and FS days.

I honestly thought Mickey could be the guy. He held it together and the defense made a huge jump from Chinanders debacle. He needed to get rid of WHipple, Give him a year with these players and see what would of happened. Couldn't been worse than Frost. Who was way over hyped!!!

Washout from the NFL that reported had to be persuaded a 2nd time to take the job. Previous record against ranked teams is zero wins. Runs an spread offense with more focus on the pass than the run, might not work in the B10. Baylor was not a rebuild. He did nothing with them the 1st 2 years.

Nebraska is far behind the 8 ball here. If it is measured i anticipate this will help retain more attendance in to the second half. especially if the game is not competative.

No matter how bad it looks, Dannen has to do what's necessary to keep the athletic department in the black financially. That's the bottom line. He can't allow millions in revenue to be lost just to save face.

Yes, I'm OK with it. It was actually Tennessee that would not agree to the home and away series being moved into the future. Nebraska, with the stadium renovation looming, cannot afford to give up the revenue of a home game. It's dollars and cents.

Live in Nashville and have been waiting for this game for years. TN canceled the first one for the VTech game in Bristol. We need to be playing more elite teams outside the big10. That was what the expanded playoffs were for, more best on best games. Now we look like the typical SEC team, weak.

It's not cowardice. Dannen only recently was given the numbers on when and how much the South Stadium renovation would cost. He made this move to add an 8th home game to keep the athletic dept from losing millions of $$.

I wouldn't use the word cowardly but it's a terrible decision for fans. I believe most fans would forego two guaranteed home wins for the chance to play Tennessee at home and on the road. It's a weak move on the football program's part

Not all fans live in Big 10 country, and this was the one game on a future schedule that was within driving distance for me. Not to mention the Smoky Mountains would've been a great travel destination for our fans. The "stadium remodel" excuse seems like a cop-out.
