The expense associated with drug addictions are huge. Treatment would be a good investment and a bargain in the long run

If our tax dollars are already going towards their prison expenses, we might as well pay for rehabilitation instead of continued incarceration.

People act in desperate ways when they're suffering from addiction. Treatment would likely reduce crime.

Either way you spend the money. Prison, where the person comes out to live in your community with skills you may wish they didn't learn while in prison. Or hopefully successful rehab.

Stop rewarding the screw ups. Drug and alcohol use is a chosen action.

What is the current success rate for those that graduate the treatment and don't re-offend within 5 years of completion? Yeah . . . NO!

Do you think this suspect should be allowed to keep his dogs as his case unfolds?

Exactly! This awful man should never be allowed to own animals for the rest of his life! Once an abuser, always an abuser. No matter that he is a vet. It doesn't excuse this abusive behavior, especially over tiny dogs!

I don't think he should get his dogs back until a psych eval is done and he's deemed ok to own an animal. I also think that your reporter's continued hounding of him for an interview after he clearly declined was appropriate or professional.
