The bigger risk is the homeless campers off China Hat and in other parts of the county. The state needs to address that problem first before further burdening law-abiding, tax-paying citizens.

I'll go with "no" on this one. If there's insurance on the house, the insurer could do that. Ditto for any mortgage holder. If neither applies, I don't think we should try to regulate stupidity.

This question was just posed recently. I think is there is a legitimate issue with a particular property endangering another's, then Yes. However, based on the recent Dpt. of Forestry assessments which were rescinded because they are so outdated, no one should have to bsed on those assessments.
ReplyWe have freedoms in how we manage our own homes but we also have an obligation to be good citizens. When it comes to human lives, that obligation should outweigh personal preferences.
ReplyI don't know that the state should require it, but I think the insurance companies should.
