When has the city (or any city) ever purchased historical relevant property and done anything worthwhile? Put up a sign and pat themselves on the back? A private org could do a lot better in preservation than this 'make us look good' tax money grab.

The city is not flush with funds. They are looking at a trash/recycle do over that will cost money and benefit all citizens in a real way. This building is not for all nor is it a real, non-illusory benefit.

There is no conceivable reason for Columbia to buy this building, it will be a on going cost the city (tax payers) don't need!

The city council doesn't care what the voters think, They don't give a crap! The vote was unanimous to purchase the building. 76% of the people said NO on the survey. That tells you all you need to know. Vote them all out of office.

tHEY NEED TO SPEND THE MONEY ON THE INFOSTRUCTURE first and fix the holes in our streets, stop the burn outs, hire more police officers and start preventing crime instead of just reacting to it!

$2 million just to buy it. How much more to remodel it for whatever use they may eventually come up with? Maintain it? How much lost in property tax revenues? Potential sales or other taxes from private use? This seems a gross waste of money. History can be honored other ways.
