In the spring the head coach and assistants will start their work. They, in effect, will ride the horse upon which they came, the players on the field. It is up to the coaches to either develop those players or to fail. We will see the result in August.

With the coaching changes, its only prudent for players to re-evaluate their decisions to make sure its best fit for them. If I was a father of a player, i would encourage the re-evaluation process and if they re-commit, Great! Otherwise best of luck to both sides.

It's hard to coach a quality OL with subpar players

I don't think we know how good Donovan really is. If the S&C is making the linemen heavy, slow, and stiff there is only so much Raiola can do. Rhule knows OL and has a track record of identifying good young coaches, so I trust that he sees something here.

For those saying there was no improvement, I disagree. You can not look at the line in a vacuum. Lots of injuries this year with your two best players out most of the year.

We did not see much improvement this year on the Oline. I dont necessary think the fault is the players necessary, its the coach. I like Raiola, but, he is missing something. Maybe the weight room will help.

I've read the why's on the good side but reason I'm saying it's bad as it's so easy to blame in on talent and players which is why I almost voted good. Some of this belongs on Duvall for strapping on cement boots to our o-lineman but our o-line did NOT improve - the regressed so...bad move

Our OL was TERRIBLE! They couldn't run block and made up for it by not being able to pass block! There was not improvement in the OL as the season progressed, in fact, they got worse! With no good OL there is not improvement! THINK MATT!

I did not see improvement in the linemen throughout the year, which does not give much confidence. I realize we need substantially better players, but we also need a coach who can get every bit of talent from whomever is playing. I did not see that this year.

The offensive line showed no improvement under Riaola and in fact regressed in their run blocking. He is also very inexperienced compared to many other candidates including John Garrison. Rhule said " it starts in the trenches". Put your money where your mouth is!

This is honestly the first time I’ve seriously questioned Rhule. This makes 0 sense. The O line is 99% of the reason Casey got massacred this year. We would have been an 8-4 team at minimum with a serviceable O line. And don’t get me started on improvement, that was VERY minimal

There is very little upside to this choice. There are many qualified offensive line coaches that have produced at this level. I would look into getting one of them. I also believe that Raiola did very little to warrant him being retained.

If you are coach with discipline methods of developement of the players, you can turn an offensive line around very quickly. Most of the same lineman are coming back. And now is he going to sell them on being tougher and more disciplined? I dont buy it! Very bad move by Ruhle!

Not one hire has any reputable credentials or experience. Hell, the O coordinator wasn't able to call the last 2 games for his team. Ruhle was a disappointing hire and his picks are far, far worse.

I haven't seen anyone dedicated to a run first offense to my liking. If we are a pass first, second and third offense (such as the last 20 years) we will continue to fail. I would prefer to run and run and run and fail for awhile till we learn how to do it, than any short term gain passing.

Bringing in offensive coordinators who have strong offenses against teams with no defense... and bringing in defensive coaches from those teams that don't play defense. That offense will fail in the Big10.
