The way my house was built, the plumbing runs along the forced air heating ducts under the house so they have never froze even when we had that -36 temp in 1987.

I have a newer house, so no problems.

We only have one plumbing line on an exterior wall (kitchen sink) - all others are located in interior walls. Outside faucets are designed for cold weather and all hoses are disconnected.

Jumped quite a bit due to the colder weather! Highest bill ever so far!

It increased because we had severely cold weather for a week.
