takes at least 5 hours to make a one hour flight. Then you have to worry about luggage, parking, getting around at your destination

so how much time do u really save by flying is the real answer. Get there an hour or so early, wait in the terminal, flight delayed , rent a car or Uber around not worth it on trips under 8 hours.

I control my environment vs. no control over any part of the travel.

Years ago, I was stuck on a plane on the taxiway for 4 hrs due to thunderstorms in the city that was the destination. The airlines couldn't legally do that today. The limit is 3 hrs, Even 3 hours stuck on a plane on the ground shouldn't be allowed. If it's even 1 hour, they should deplane.

Portland to Houston due to weather in Houston. Sat on PDX Taxi way. Drank the plane dry (captain declared open bar) and filled the toilets. No AC because the engines were shut down after an hour to save fuel. Made connection since nothing was leaving Houston on time.

7 hour delay Dulles to Portland due to lightning storm and then crew hours. Airline played schedule catch up next morning by adding extra morning flight
