Years ago, I was stuck on a plane on the taxiway for 4 hrs due to thunderstorms in the city that was the destination. The airlines couldn't legally do that today. The limit is 3 hrs, Even 3 hours stuck on a plane on the ground shouldn't be allowed. If it's even 1 hour, they should deplane.

Reply7 hour delay Dulles to Portland due to lightning storm and then crew hours. Airline played schedule catch up next morning by adding extra morning flight
