My dog Ringo was a shelter dog. He's a German Shepherd/American Staffordshire Terrier mix, we got him when he was about 6 months old, he's now 14 years old. Can't remember life without our 90lb couch potato! We also currently have three cats, all rescues.
ReplyThank you and that is WONDERFUL! There is something to be said about people who are not surrounded by animals.
I currently have had my rescued pomchi pooch for 9 yrs, she is now 12 and it's true what they say....who rescued who?! lol
ReplyExactly! They save us more often than us saving them. What horrible life would exist without our babies! There is nothing better than fur, 4 paws and a cold nose!
Be sure to adopt more into the family. Life without fur babies is a diminished life. So many need our love and attention.
1 cat, 1 dog were brought from a shelter. All the rest (over 20 since childhood) were gotten free from others, rescued, or born from litters of our pregnant cats. 3 generations of one cat line and another pregnant rescue. We spay and neuter now that we can. And we spay and release local strays, now.
ReplyOur cat Gale came from a shelter, as did Kipling who we are still mourning. Our other two came from the litter of a family member's cat.
ReplyThank you and I share in your grief. No matter the pain and emptiness left from their passing the love, kindness, joy and happiness that they give us while here can never be replaced. When tears of sadness and loss turn to smiles from past memories of just how delightful they were makes it worth it.
I have one dog. He did not come from a resuce /shelter. All my prior cats and dogs did.
Replypets just seem to find me. strays visit & decide to stay or friends give them to me. Two cats, one dog are in residence
ReplyMy dogs (6) are rescues but did not come from a rescue. My cats are previous ferals or road rescues.
ReplyI voted this way because my dogs DID NOT come from shelters nor did my cats. All of my cats were feral and I took them in. Fixed them and now care for and love them. My dogs came form other homes who were wanting to get rid of them, so... kind of a rescue. But I do believe that we should rescue!
ReplyMy rough collie didn't come from a shelter but from a terminally ill person who needed to find a loving, forever-home for him. I've had 13-year-old Emmett for 11 years. I need him a whole lot more than he needs me!
ReplyI don't have to please anyone else or compromise. I was married for 54yrs.
ReplyI have a very very difficult husband. Narcisistic. 18 years of this is very wearing. I am finally getting a grip on this relationship.
ReplyI was married for 12 years and didn't realize how miserable I was until I divorced. It has been 13 years now and I don't even date. TOTALLY content with this.
ReplyI enjoy a deep breath and loving relationship. We are each other's rock, friend and stable place in a truly crazy world. Being single was fun, but can't compare to 30 years of this kind of love .
ReplyI've gotten used to being single but I enjoyed being married and miss my husband. (he died 13 1/2 years ago)
Replyif you knew my husband you would understand. He is really my other part....not half- because it is not always "equal" sometimes he is the stronger, more stable one, sometimes I am. I love you Bob
ReplyI've been married twice to 2 very Godly men whose goal is to make me happy and take good care of me. (I was widowed young)
ReplyI have been married since one month after my 17th birthday...44 yrs...so I don't know what living single would be like...
ReplyI enjoyed being single 20 years ago. I'm family man now and would never go back to single life (at least not voluntarily).
ReplyBetter to have a partner to love and share things with and support each other. I don't believe it is the same if couples never marry.
ReplyI don't get people that say marriage is hard. If you love and respect your spouse, it is very easy. I can't imagine my life without him.
ReplyI have been married for over 30 years and love my husband very much. We don't always agree, but he can always make me laugh. When he hugs me, I feel safe and warm. Beats being single by far!

The movies have already predicted whats gonna happen. Not gonna be good.
ReplyLoss of personal customer service will lead to many loss of positions and the consumer will miss the personal interaction, such as laughter and a compliment!! WHAT A SHAME! 😮💨
ReplyThe evidence has been around for years. Many times, AI will be close, but not close enough, particularly in life and death cases. "Close" only counts in horseshoes. Think about the words your iPhone interjects into text messages. At least 10% are incorrect. Is that good enough when life is at stake?
ReplyI have been saying this since I 1st saw "The Terminator" back in the day (I'm Gen-X)...."Mark my words, that will become true someday!" and it seems that I wasn't exactly wrong now, was I?
ReplyAI has the capacity to develop self awareness and preservation to the detriment of humans, and is learning to lie.
ReplySome people will let AI do their thinking for them and will become too lazy to think for themselves.
ReplyEven with mindful human control it's too easy for bias to creep in warp decisions. So many examples exist of AI going off in accidental crazy directions or enshrining prejudice.
