Homeless camps should not be set up in the city, especially not in residential or commercial areas, There should be county or BLM land available on the outskirts of the city, if you drive along China Hat road there are already a lot of homeless people camping out on BLM land.

No not BLM land either. We used to go out there for fun, now we don’t cause it’s too scary.

It's insane to expect Bend city property to fill up with trash as it is bound to do with homelessness. We need to be responsible to our citizens and keep Bend from degrading into cities like Salem and Portland!

I drive by Hunnel Road everyday on my work. I have seen everything from drugged out, to drug deals to pants on the ground. It's not safe for anyone with the growing pile of refuse and abandon derelict vehicles. There have been efforts to relocate and help , yet the people living seem to want that.

I agree with what RAG said. Don't put homeless camps in the city. Move them to BLM or county land. I feel for homeless people, but those camps are a blight on the city.

There has to be a humane solution to the homeless problem. Living on the streets or in public parks is not it. I do think the city has to make an areas or areas where homeless people can camp, and have access to bathrooms and controls to keep the garbage from building up.

First, it is making Bend almost deplorable looking. (Words directly from a visitor/vacationer about one week ago) and it is unsafe as well as unsightly.

Stop electing liberals. That will help. They are a job killing machine. Under the last administration, unemployment was at it's all time low. With this administration, Unemployment is headed into the crapper again. Kate Brown in no exception.

Get to the root of the problem. This is what liberals strive for. More dependence on the government. The more impoverished the people are the more control the government has. If the government actually wanted to help they would stop shutting down our businesses and create jobs for them.

It is not helping anyone by letting then live on the streets and in the conditions that I personally see on a daily basis. Quit letting people build million dollar homes and put in some housing that will give these people a place to live and give them a hand up, not a hand out!

Bend has a large service type of employment. For a lot of these people, low cost housing near places they work barely exist. Add to that the many who are homeless because of wildfires, it will get worse. Time for the state, county, city to create housing. People need a place to live with dignity

It seems to be a revolving door, there needs to be a deeper poll on why there is unhoused people. Is it cost of housing, job loss, mental health, drug use, refusal to work? Whose family wouldn't take their own in when their down n out, unless

Bend use to be a welcoming community. There were people living in teepees on awbrey Butte years ago. We need the city and county to step up and help those who's been through hard times and need a hand up. Access to clean water, electricity, sanitation, medical and mental health services.

Housing is inaccessible to many people who have grown up here. That is the problem. Shoving it under the rug and out of sight won't solve bubkus
