Your comment is confusing. You say you don't have more lights on outside, the news article is stating the county wants exactly what you're doing, and you're upset?
Ours are motion sensored lights. Four...one at the step for our porch, 2nd at door. The other two are seldom on, Back yard.

I have one porch light that is turned on once it’s dark and turned off once I go to bed. It’s only on for a few hours. Light pollution has direct and negative effects on energy consumption, human health, disruption to the ecosystem and wildlife, and even crime and safety.

There is no clear evidence that increased outdoor lighting deters crimes. It may make us feel safer, but has not been shown to make us safer. Most property crime occurs in the light of the day. Some crimes like vandalism and graffiti actually thrive on night lighting. https://www.darksky.org/

ReplyPorch light is a motion sensor. Little solar lights on my back patio. I love to see the stars and it's getting harder with more people here. I agree with reducing light pollution.
ReplyWe live out in the country, Coyotes, bobcats even cougars, of course I have big lights and I feel it is outrageous that anyone could regulate outside lighting! We are letting dangerous repeat offenders out on low to no bail to kill innocent people and we concerned about house lights? Thats insane!
