A friend of mine, who's a physician, went on vacation, during which time her house flooded. When she came home she found serratia marcesens, a micro organism (which grows orangish pink cultures) which had been part of an outbreak at the hospital she worked for, growing all over her floors.
Reply ReplyI am disabled and wearing shoes in the house could be dangerous for me. I'm safer wearing soft slippers with non slip soles.
Reply ReplyAs soon as I step foot in my house, I have slippers waiting for me! Not only is it more clean but more comfy too!
Reply ReplyMy house is very clean which includes the floors. No one wears shoes in my house that's keeping the floors clean
Reply ReplyI try and keep rain, mud, dirt, leaves, etc. outside. Slippers or socks inside only.
Reply ReplyWe have never worn shoes in the house and I think the most disrespectful thing anyone can do when visiting is leave their shoes on. I've even said to people, "You can leave your shoes right here." One person said, "Nah, they aren't that dirty." Really?!
Reply ReplyWith all the junk outside, it's best to just kick them off as soon as possible.
Reply ReplyI grew up in the south so as soon as school was out we kicked off our shoes and rarely put them on (usually for church on Sunday) until school stared. I find shoes confining.
Reply ReplyThere's no "formal" standard of wearing shoes or not wearing shoes at our house. You do what you want. I, personally, love to go barefoot, but in winter when it gets cold, I wear slippers.
Reply ReplyI was raised to take off my shoes at the door so I don't track dirt through the house
Reply ReplyI can't remember a time when I ever wore shoes in the house. It's unnatural. (We live in sandy country and my mother wanted the mess kept outside. I have continued the practice as a mom and grandma.)
Reply ReplyThat's what slippers are for. I don't want to track dirt and who knows what else all over my house.

I have weak ankles and use custom orthotics in my shoes. Going barefoot (or spending several hours in my house slippers) allows my ankles to collapse inward, causing pain in my ankles, knees and back.
ReplyShoes are protective. I like to keep my toes from being stubbed, and my soles undamaged.
ReplyWe go in and out of our country home through the day. Plus our 2 big dogs are also in and out. We vacuum a lot!
ReplyI am no longer comfortable barefoot. My old feet hurt without some arch support. I've never acquired the habit of changing shoes when I came in the house.
ReplyWhile I prefer everyone NOT wear shoes in the house, we have pets. Once you step in vomit with bare feet, you understand the necessity. I also hate the pile of shoes that accumulates at the door.
ReplyI don't like to be barefoot.
ReplyAll the time. I have shoes that are designated for inside the house only.
ReplyRIGHT UNTIL I GO TO BED.
ReplyI need the arch support.
ReplyI wear slippers I can't stand my bare feet to touch floor
ReplyThere are items in the house where you can break a toe, etc. I don’t want my bare feet touching the floor. Especially on carpet- you never know what is in there, as you can never really get them clean, due to the pad. Once something soaks in, its there forever!
ReplySlip on shoes CV or slippers. Definitely not the barefoot type. My feet are always cold
ReplyI would prefer to keep shoes off when we come home but he refuses. I previously was barefooted walking at home. Not I wear shoes. Sometimes just socks.
ReplyCroc sandals, always!
ReplyWe do but I have friends who make us take off our shoes...It makes me feel dirty...But I can also understand it because the floors last much longer and so much less cleaning which I despise
ReplyNo. The amount of filth, bacteria, ringworm, etc that you can track in. also in winter, chemicals from salts and snow melters- if you have pets that is a nightmare.
ReplyGot shoes on right now in my house! Really it depends on who's house I'm at whether or not I take my shoes off whilst there.
