Texts should be treated like emails, not requiring compulsive immediate answers but responded to when convenient. For friends with sick parents expecting possible emergency alerts you might wait.

It's possible that any time of the day or night could be inconvenient. I send when the thought or question comes up. And I reply when I see one to me, which may be hours later. Not ruled by my phone.

One's immediate thoughts shouldn't be "put on hold" for a time when it's "convenient" to the receiver. IF that specific person should not want to be "disturbed" they should adjust their settings!!!

Be aware of others sleep patterns. I hate waking up on my only day off to a crazy text about nothing. I can't turn my phone off in case there is an emergency - otherwise I would.
ReplyThere is still room for proper behavior in this technological age.
ReplyI must sleep with my phone on loud so that I can receive emergency texts for work, texts that require me to respond within an hour any time. People who don't get that get their number moved to silent
ReplyDon't text anyone before the normal work day time schedule.
ReplyAny time between midnight and sun up. Let your people sleep.
ReplyNot until at least 9 am, unless it is an emergency.
ReplyYes, there is. But if you are awakened in the night by a text, that's YOUR poor phone management, not the texter's. Don't make everyone responsible to know your schedule.
ReplyYes unless it's an emergency. My phone goes on "do not disturb" from 10p.m to 8a.m with only my "favorites" able to message during that time. My favorites are mostly family so I'm good there.
ReplyProblem before 9AM...their time!
Reply2 am. ex texted asking to get back with me. im not a morning person. blocked and deleted.
ReplyAND a too late of a time. I try to stick with the laws about telemarketing calls. None before 8 pm or after 9 pm! If it's an EMERGENCY, I will CALL!
Reply7pm to 9am
Replyyes you can leave a message but i don't answer text at 5 in the morning i will get back you latter in the day
ReplyNo earlier than they get up...unless you know bthey don't have their phone pinging at night.
ReplyWe don't have the right to expect another to "fix" their settings so they don't hear their phone. They may miss an emergency call. YOU set a reminder to text them later at an appropriate hour.
ReplyUnless you don't mind waiting a few hours for the recipient to wake up...
ReplyUnless it is urgent to get the tHought out, I believe 11pm to 8am should be rest time. I keep my fingers on in case of emergencies and don't like the spam and unnecessary messages without regard to me
ReplyI don’t text, unless I think IT’S NECESSARY!!!! I Usually Don’t text before 10:00 AM, Or After 9:00 PM.
ReplyIt all depends on their work schedule. If you have someone who works third shift don't text them in the middle of the day. Also, there is a too late as well. So, don't text the first shifter at 10 pm
ReplyI'd wait until after 9am unless it's an emergency.
ReplyUnless it's an emergency, I would wait till after 9
