He's strong but not particularly fast...I'd like to see Janovich and Cross have carries in games.

Dumb question. Diffent type of back for diffent situation. That's why coaches coach and writers write.

There should be two featured backs that play situational ball. Short yardage back, 5 yards or less or long yardage back, 5 yards or more.

Cross is a good back but he's not fast enough to get to the outside. I'm not saying Newby is the answer either but before the msu game cross was good for 3 yards up the middle and then falling down when someone touched his leg.

he sort'a showed what he is capable of doing in the MSU. y wouldn't you run him?
ReplyHe worked against a good Mich St front line and consistency would be good for a change in the backfield. He is not shift or as fast as others in the backfield but go with what works and stop switching things up so much. A steady diet of Cross and Janovich will cure the ailing run game.
ReplyImani looks like the better back...... maybe not as fast but at least he is getting north and south
ReplyI've been saying this since his freshman year when Ameer was a sophomore. I was wrong then, but I'm right now.
ReplyI've said this for years...he's the most physical, hard-running back in the group. Not the best at side to side or catching screens out of the backfield, but if you want to wear down and demoralize a defense with smash mouth football, he's your guy.
ReplyCross has more success it seems.
ReplyIt is obvious too bad the coaches have not used his skills.
ReplyHe is the only back that has shown any consistency
ReplyIf the line will help him, he'll be fine. Just don't expect him to do it all on his own.
Replyyes he should be. he reminds me of the old school bruser backs nebraska use to have. kind of a Tom Rathmen type guy. GBR
ReplyHe is a much more powerful runner & is not afraid of lowering his shoulders. Doesn't jitter-step when approaching the line. Runs with confidence.
ReplyBecause Newby is not good enough to be featured
ReplyIf he can get the job done with a little help from his friends....absolutely!
ReplyRuns north and south doesn't get pulled down by first guy
Replyyes he is a power runner and he showed he can use it well
ReplyHe's like a runaway train.
ReplyReward the good show from last week.
ReplyIf he runs like he did in the Michigan State game, Then yes!
ReplyHe's finally realized his potential.
ReplyHe has earned it
ReplyHe won't wear down the defenses better.
ReplyHe's got the toughness and will to take the hits
ReplyNewly is too weak and does a terrible job of reading blocks.
ReplyWhy not?
