We are losing too many large trees in Bend. Among other things, they are a carbon sink. We can't afford to lose them.

Climate change is nothing to worry about

Just look at the RV park clear cut along Murphy Road and the Parkway overpass! Massive, stripping the land of mature Ponderosa Pines - totally not good! Wasn't Bend once proclaimed a "Tree City USA" resource? NOT.

The "New Bend" is in the pocket of the big developers, which includes allowing them to clear-cut huge areas of land while Bend pretends to be a "tree city". Look at the older developments, and you'll see how trees used to be saved. Builders need to work around the trees instead of destroying them.

For starters I like trees more than houses. And developers have gotten away with murder just clearing whole lots of every little bit of vegetation. Bend is losing a lot of charm and it gets worse every day.

Bend let the car wash on Reed Lane remove a beautiful tree! For a car wash! With no need! That area is empty and has little landscaping.

The government shouldn't control us

Yet you constantly say how the government should control women, LGBTQ+ communities, anyone that isn't a cis white male. You are a Nazi, Gabe. Just calling a spade a spade. And climate change is real, boo-boo. Your bishop must be mortified at your constant ignorance.

Bend is a densely forested area. You can’t build much larger than a shed without clearing tree. Why should the City be able to tell me what I can do with the trees on my property? Welcome to the Peoples Republic of Bend.

You should definitely move to an area where there's more simple-minded folks like yourself to hang with.

That's not true. But adorable that you spread lies on the internet for clout from your republican friends. Enjoy dying. 😘

Agreed! Even the CDC finally admitted last month that they didn't .

I believe there needs to be a certain level of exposure to the environment to keep our immune systems active and healthy. The mask mandate likely decreased our natural immunity to the things in our natural environment. So we might get sick more often while we build our defense back.

Cloth masks do not prevent covid 19 or other diseases, proven fact. Way too long they have been required. If people want to wear them, fine.

Yes, but just give it a while and H5N1 will jump to humans. Unlike Covid which killed around 1%, H5N1 appears to be a 50 percenter. Masks will come back really fast then!

Is this a solution or just a band aid? Seems like only a band aid; solves nothing, just kicks the can down the road...

These kind of liberal policies bring criminals drug addicts in the mentally ill and communities were taxpayers work hard to keep their family safe. . A poster child would be Portland, and they wanna turn Bend into Portland.. . The Safe Parking program will put them all over Deschutes county!!!

Homeless issue will not be solved by throwing more money and services at them, while expecting hard working taxpayers to foot the bill.

The site is too close to the highway and presents a safety hazard to those who don't have a vehicle. A safer location should be used.

No, and he'll no. This town cares more about the bums, junkies, spotted frog and developers then they do there own residence. And the special people on the west side of town.

Absolutely not. This location will be the first thing you see when exiting Hiway 97 entering our town. All the local businesses are rightly concerned. Many will remember prior to the Parkway being built there was a large manicured landscape with the word Bend trimmed into the landscape. That's gone.

Certainly not without 24/7 on-site management/security. I understand that we need something and overall, I don't think this is a terrible idea. However, 24/7 security is essential to the safety of both the houseless, and the rest of the community.

There is no security being provided. We all saw the theft and crime issues generated by the illegal encampment on Hunnel Rd. It's past time we enforce our vagrants laws. Studies show most of these "campers" are there by choice.

Seriously, if the city creates more opportunities for "free squatting", more will certainly come along with more substance abuse, trash, crime, etc...

I'm from bend, born and raised.. I've got really mixed feelings on this! I know the homeless are a huge factor in Bend and while I dont really agree to setting up a community for them to live south of town... I also don't agree with the outrageous home and rental prices....

You can't help those who don't want to help themselves. Stop catering and wiping there butts. All they want to do is live like a pig and be stoned all day. Idiots in charge of Oregon legalize all these drugs and wonder why we have these issues. Sick of my tax money used to clean up after everyone.

Why not the west side? Or how about keeping them where they are now? They have already destroyed the area and we don't have in our backyards. Look at all of the problems they have caused out on Hummel road and you think we want this in our community and to live with the garbage and drugs they bring!

Why do my hard earned tax dollars need to pay for people who choose to be addicted to drugs and alcohol and NOT work?? It straight up pisses me off. The more we give them, the bigger the homeless population grows! Figure that out democrats
