Is this a solution or just a band aid? Seems like only a band aid; solves nothing, just kicks the can down the road...

Disregard for taxpayers and businesess...No regard for public safety...The City/County should be sued...

Why support them? Run them out of town.

What a beautiful sight to see as you enter Bend.

These kind of liberal policies bring criminals drug addicts in the mentally ill and communities were taxpayers work hard to keep their family safe. . A poster child would be Portland, and they wanna turn Bend into Portland.. . The Safe Parking program will put them all over Deschutes county!!!

Homeless issue will not be solved by throwing more money and services at them, while expecting hard working taxpayers to foot the bill.

The site is too close to the highway and presents a safety hazard to those who don't have a vehicle. A safer location should be used.

No, and he'll no. This town cares more about the bums, junkies, spotted frog and developers then they do there own residence. And the special people on the west side of town.

Absolutely not. This location will be the first thing you see when exiting Hiway 97 entering our town. All the local businesses are rightly concerned. Many will remember prior to the Parkway being built there was a large manicured landscape with the word Bend trimmed into the landscape. That's gone.

Certainly not without 24/7 on-site management/security. I understand that we need something and overall, I don't think this is a terrible idea. However, 24/7 security is essential to the safety of both the houseless, and the rest of the community.

There is no security being provided. We all saw the theft and crime issues generated by the illegal encampment on Hunnel Rd. It's past time we enforce our vagrants laws. Studies show most of these "campers" are there by choice.

Just make a spot out east of bend on the desert and put them all out there

How about another homeless shelter instead

I think this will be just another hunnell Rd and look how that turned out

Camps shouldn't be supported or allowed in city limits.

Seriously, if the city creates more opportunities for "free squatting", more will certainly come along with more substance abuse, trash, crime, etc...

Invest in facilities not tent cities. Address mental health and stop enabling.

I'm from bend, born and raised.. I've got really mixed feelings on this! I know the homeless are a huge factor in Bend and while I dont really agree to setting up a community for them to live south of town... I also don't agree with the outrageous home and rental prices....

You can't help those who don't want to help themselves. Stop catering and wiping there butts. All they want to do is live like a pig and be stoned all day. Idiots in charge of Oregon legalize all these drugs and wonder why we have these issues. Sick of my tax money used to clean up after everyone.

Why not the west side? Or how about keeping them where they are now? They have already destroyed the area and we don't have in our backyards. Look at all of the problems they have caused out on Hummel road and you think we want this in our community and to live with the garbage and drugs they bring!

Why do my hard earned tax dollars need to pay for people who choose to be addicted to drugs and alcohol and NOT work?? It straight up pisses me off. The more we give them, the bigger the homeless population grows! Figure that out democrats

We need that money in our own country to help our schools, Medicare and education. Don’t you care about our neighbors and communities?

If it even needs saying, the Military Industrial Complex is the MOST bloated budget of the entire federal budget. If our current "completely-in-over-his-head" Def Sec + idiot prez hadn't started a completely unnecessary war, we would not have depleted stores of weapons and this be on nobody's radar!

Ka San, You sound like a radical liberal. Guess you'd rather have nukes start flying around in the middle east and then closer to home in a couple years.

As a tax payer and resident of Deschutes County I am tired of my tax dollars being used to clean up the filth the homeless people leave behind. If this is a deterrent for them living there then we won’t have to clean it up again. Thus saving tax payer dollars and the rocks are a better look.
