Devany Is the one who turned a pathetic football program into a champion chip program. Osborne inherited a championship football program.

Bob Devaney started and Tom Osborne continued Bob's legacy. Tom learned from Bob, not vice versa.

I know him the best, and he left an impressive record on and off the field over a long period which included a variety adversities. Perhaps at a later date I would answer "Scott Frost."

ReplyI confess I wasn't thrilled in the first few years after he took over from the Bobfather, but he continued to improve and demonstrated that he could both build character and win the big game.

ReplyNo comparison-with what he has done not only on the field but for the whole state of Nebraska-and done it all with integrity and class.
ReplyWhy isn't Riley a stand alone option.... That is hard to say with a straight face. Also, Osborne over Devaney because I didn't exist when Devaney coached.

ReplyDevany got it started but Tom persevered and keep it going for 25 years. Built it and maintained it in a changing game environment and style.
