This is typical virtue signaling. If Climate Change only has negative effects, which hasn’t been proven, massive changes on nation state levels need to happen. Like replacing all coal fired plants with nuclear power. This local nonsense will not make one Iotas difference on global temperature.

Big mistake thinking the slack-jawed locals would ever approve of anything named "climate friendly." That aside, the underlying land use objectives do promote a more sustainable design for the future of the community. Keep the concept, lose the name. The inbreeders will never know the difference.

What is it your Climate Friendly zone accomplishes? Do you think the ultimate global temperature will be any different 100 years from now if everyone turns their cars off while they wait to pick up their kids? If the left is so convinced of A Climate disaster, why won’t they support Nuclear power?

Why wouldn't I? It mystifies me how anyone could be against this type of proposal. Who would rather drive a car, spend money on gas, pollute our surroundings, instead of walking or riding , and having local services?

Everyone in Bend should have the opportunity to live a blissful car-free life where you can walk to everything you need. Think historic European cities. Think college campuses. Think Disneyland. Our social fabric, carbon footprint, and housing woes can all be solved by dense, walkable neighborhoods.

It's a win for our community's future to promote more housing close to services and businesses. It reduces reliance on driving, emissions, household costs, and the cost (to all tax payers) of extending utilities and infrastructure compared to building all our housing on the edges of town.

Climate Friendly Areas are a great tool for helping direct and manage that growth with intention in ways that enhance our livability. CFAs will help Bend deliver more diverse housing options in the most climate friendly ways possible.

It's a waste of taxpayer dollars studying this. Focus on the homeless, failing streets, public safety and infrastructure. You know, the things cities are supposed to focus on. Enough of the "feel good" stuff.

This is NOT as important an issue as the homelessness in this area, as you had previously reported on. The USA has made Huge strides with cleaning the climate. Talk to India and China to work on climate issues.

I am so fed up with the liberals making decisions for all of the citizens. From Governor Kotek to Bends city council. Our state government is following the disasterous policies of Gavin Newsom that so many have fled. Vote them out and get Oregon back. We should vote for what effects us.

This is nothing but virtue signaling garbage. If Climate Change is the threat it’s been blown up to be, we have to replace Coal with nuclear power. Invest in Carbon Capture and some renewables where they make sense. This crap makes no difference. It’s like masking for Covid

Help with what? Do you really think some neighborhood with no cars will make any difference whatsoever in the ultimate level of global temperature? Maybe 1 one hundred billionth of one degree of difference 100 years from now at taxpayers expense? It’s like wearing a mask for Covid. Does nothing!

If only to improve air quality around schools, this is a good idea.

When Oregon Schools become better than 46 in the nation then we can worry about an Idle free zone the whole education system in Oregon needs to be Overhauled.

Is the air quality that bad? Maybe you should worry more about the air quality for our kids in the summer when the forest service lets massive fires burn out of control for two months. That would likely do more then turning your car off.

Climates have been changing since God created the earth. China has and is channeling millions of dollars to climate activates, to make the U S more dependent on them and make us weaker reducing fossil fuel use which is totally wrong. We should not be chicken little's, the sky is not falling.

Drop them off a couple blocks away from school and make them walk. You know, a little exercise.

More left wing virtue signaling nonsense that does nothing to resolve the alleged problem. It just inconveniences people. If you are worried about CO2, support the growth of nuclear power to replace coal. Otherwise stop pushing this crap on everyone else.

The climate crisis is all about gaining more control over people. The earth will do what the earth will do regardless of what we do. Liberal media and left liberal have sold this idea to our youth, sad.
