Which draft day trade was a bigger bust for the Jaguars?

Gabbert was bad but people forget Garrard basically had a career ending injury which left them with Luke McCown as their only QB, also Gene Smith was a horrid GM anyway. The Harvey pick is the bigger busy because of the amount of picks traded and how that equated to a Super Bowl win for the Ratbirds. The Gabbert bust just allowed the Washington Football Team to acquire BustG3.

Being a Ravens fan, I know that this trade got the ball rolling for them to obtain both Flacco and Rice in this draft. The Jaguars could have gotten both those players instead!

Derrick Morgan had great expectations to be a great DE and a cornerstone of the defense. Blaine Gabbert, although bad, always had a cloud around him from day one. He was drafted way too high, in a position impossible to succeed without significant help. Gabbert was an awful pick and set the Jags back at least 2-3 years, but Morgan was supposed to be a slam dunk

They released David Garrard, the most underrated QB of the 2000's for this bum!!! The franchise tanked when this happened.

He is the superior player and the superior person. The steelers should look at Winston ... that way they can groom the next rapist behind their current rapist.

Winston is a headcase. No way he will have a better career.

Accurate, elusive, and is patient in the pocket. He's not afraid to move between his progressions, and in the end, he sure can run.

Footwork, footwork, footwork. You cannot be accurate without footwork. You cannot be successful without footwork. Sorry Blake Bortles, but footwork is better than being 6'5" and 235 pounds with a cannon with no aim. Mariota will be a Pro Bowl caliber player in his very first season. That's why I voted for him, he's a fluffier version of Andrew Luck.

Mariota has better mechanics and probably has a better work ethic as opposed to the guy that looks like he's whipping a 100 MPH fastball and runs like he's had too many crab legs. Seriously, who yells "F her right in the .."

Despite all of Winston's talent, I cannot see him staying out of trouble and becoming a successful leader in today's NFL.

How many qbs that depend on their legs last in the NFL.... none Kapernick, Newton and Wilson are being exposed this year without an elite defense Winston is an ANdrew Luck type of talent, that can carry a team... hes doing it right now in college... Mariota loses to mediocre teams like arizona in his own house.... also mariota is injury prone

I just don't think that Mariota's game will translate to the NFL. For him to be successful, he will have to be drafted by a team that's a perfect fit. Oregon's playbook is the smallest in college football, Mariota's learning curve will therefore be extensive. Winston will probably suck too though, so I'm betting they both bust.

It's tough as obviously both are talented players. I think Mariota is more careful with the ball, but he reminds me too much of Manziel on how quickly he abandons the throw for the scramble. Winston has great arm strength and uses his mobility mostly to keep plays alive and always keeps his eyes down field. Also like Manziel, I think he could be one of the greats in the NFL if he can keep his nose clean.
