I'm tired of certain people in our country always trying to take the easy way and not being accountable or truly committed to education.

Of course they should, would you want an attorney who couldn't pass the bar exam?

Important to catch up on our childrens scholastic losses in our K-12 educational system, due to the Covid shut downs. We are behind and our students are in dire need of fundamental educational training or they will not be classically prepared to enter college in their futures.

Yes for whatever good it would do. It's extortion, pure and simple to use our kids as pawns. With no proficiency requirements for H.S. Graduation in Oregon, who needs teachers? Wake up, put your kids in private school and give them a fighting chance in this ever changing world.

Teachers claim they are essential workers. Essential workers like police and fire cannot strike so that should include teachers.

Kids should always come first before greedy teachers!

Teachers need to un-unionize themselves

Greedy!? Teacher make crap money to deal with your even crappier kids. They deserve way more money and if they need to strike, so be it.

I don't like blackmail tactics and that's exactly what teachers are doing when they strike. Do your striking in the summer when kids are not in school and you can't hold parents hostage.

You obviously don't understand the concept of striking. You must have been homeschooled.

In order for it to be accessible, only vehicles with disabled stickers should be allowed up. Make all the spots up top disabled-only. Everyone else can walk or ride up. It would be much safer without vehicles speeding up and down.

It isn't a matter of being handicapped. All people have the right to go up the butte. Taxpayers already had to pay for a trail for walkers and that still isn't enough for you. Get used to not getting your way in everything.

Most seniors don't have a handicap placard. Sorry, but the elderly deserve to enjoy Pilot Butte, too.

Alot of people besides the handicapped are unable to walk up to the top. People with asthma and other medical conditions don't always qualify for a handicap sticker. This comment is really exclusive to one category of people, leaving out senior citizens and many others.

Anyone that can't walk 200 feet or who has limited mobility is eligible for a handicapped sticker under Oregon law, so they can just get one. I'm a senior citizen and walk up, as do many others.

That would prevent many mobility challenged people from enjoying the beauty of Pilot Butte

So, the Butte should be open to able-bodied people only? Remember, you may not always be able-bodied. Just a thought.

Wondering why walkers are consistently trying to keep drivers out of public areas. If you feel the butte is to dangerous to share with cars then go walk somewhere else. Walkers aren't special people with special rights. You already destroyed all people's from using Shevlin Park to enjoy.

No, this is a state park that should be accessible to everyone to be able to enjoy this Bend jewel.

This would discriminate against a large number of people who are not able to make such a difficult hike.

Well, while I'm not incapable of walking or hiking, I certainly know people who cannot make such a strenuous trek, and it would be wrong not to allow everyone to enjoy that view!

That restricts the butte for able bodies only. We like to take our 90 year old mom up there occasionally.

What about the handy capped It's always been open to motor vehicles .that would be like asking hikers and bikers to stop using. Why should it close just because it has gotten more popular maybe they should hike or bike where vehicles don't travel

It will never happen. It's an accessibility issue. State Government will never close it to vehicles.
