Public transportation is not available in many areas of our city.

I was an Uber/Lyft driver for 2 years before the pandemic here in KC. It was a lot of fun and provided a meaningful service for people of all income levels. But the lockdown ended my driving, and I think the reduced air travel and reduced large events has reduced the riders.

i think with autonomous cars in the near future, smaller parking lots and structures and community shared vehicles can go a long way to helping with density of living space construction. I think this has to be in conjunction with public transportation and building along main transportion roads.

I was carless for 4 months a couple of years ago. I relied on Uber, rides from friends, and walking to get where I needed to go. I chose my house on a bus line, BUT there were only 2 buses toward downtown in the am and 2 buses back to OP in the pm. Hard to get anywhere in between.

Public transportation in Johnson County means RideKC. While RideKC can get select people to select workplaces that operate on a traditional work schedule. Getting to places to get groceries, prescription drugs, or other house needs, is even more difficult

I WISH I could get around using public transportation. I spent a summer in SF and I miss BART so much. My parents were shocked moving here from Lincoln NE at how nonexistent public transportation is in JoCo. Free + reliable public transport would be so beneficial here

The Metropolitan Council outlines 10 units per acre within a 10 min walk for High Frequency Bus Networks, with a goal of 15-60+ units per acre. I think we need to fill the gap of housing that exists in the 1000-1200 sq ft range, two bedroom, one garage space walking area housing that is virtually nonexistent. Mid rise buildings, townhomes and condominiums that are near public transport, and walking areas. Empty nesters and young move ups

My neighborhood has different housing types now. It's a combination of both older (one-car garage) and newer (2 car garage) single family homes, duplexes and apartments. I love the diversity it brings!

When mixing housing types I think the scale or the balance of the housing types needs to be monitored.

Different housing types in different neighborhoods, but a mixture in each high school attendance area -- we have that now in JoCo to some extent. I like the diversity in the SM North area, even though any given neighborhood is very homogeneous.

Many of us want the same things when it comes to community and housing. But coming to an agreement on how best to do this will be the important part of the agreement. (This is my lame comment. I'll do more thinking on this question.)

My vision is that climate change adaptations and racial reconciliation should guide us in the future. I seek to find people in JoCo who share this vision and apply it to housing and transportation issues, etc.

I think if we can develop downsized same neighborhood housing that appeals to the older homeowners so they can stay in their area, we have a chance to get them on board bringing new life to a neighborhood through mid level deve
