Other than disagreeing with the added-in-the-1950s "under god" portion, it's a simple way to make one's sentiments known. It's patriotic.

Athletes who have knelt says this is not to disrespect our service members, but to demonstrate the lack of equality in this country. Apparently this is too hard for some to understand the difference.

Boycotting the pledge does not help anyone. It only shows total lack of respect for this country, our servicemen and women and ignorance of what the flag symbolizes. Very immature and childish.

There are MANY other ways of protesting. Boycotting the Pledge of Allegiance, or anything Patriotic is a sign of true disrespect for the Men and Women who have served this Great Nation.

The woman on the council making this statement by boycotting the pledge of allegiance should be removed from her position. She is disrespecting our flag and every veteran that has died for her freedom

Find a different platform to protest on. Being disrespectful to the Nation in any way is not the right thing for any reason. Shame on you and yours.

I am an American who loves our country & the men & woman that died so we have the right to do the pledge of allegiance. Shame on those who disrespect it!

It makes a mockery of every person who has fought and/or died defend this country. If you can’t show respect-don’t hold public office and get the heck out of the country.

United we stand, divided we fall. It's what standing up and being an american means! Boycotting a symbol that stands for what American means is counter to the point.
