Reply ReplyMike is a stand up guy by all accounts.I have 4 children of my own and have said things out of pure frustration. What he said was relatable. Judge his performance not words.Words are fleeting.
Reply ReplyMike is a great guy and his words are obviously taken out of context. I’ve recently visited a local high school and I was amazed to see how many kids were on their phones and not paying attention.
Reply ReplyWhat he said was taken out of context. I know Michael and he really cares for his students. Is not fair that someone took what Michael said and gave it a twist that is not what was meant by Michael.
Reply ReplyI’ve personally had him sub for my classes when I was in high school. This instance should not represent the kind of teacher he is.
Reply ReplySome kids these days are so spoiled rotten and no sense of how to respect their elders! Parents should be held accountable!
Reply ReplyMr. Shelton was using satirical humor which is not to be taken literally. When someone says it's raining cats and dogs, no animals are falling from the sky. Mr. Shelton is a kind, generous teacher.
Reply ReplyIf anyone should disagree then they do not understand the difference between an analogy or speaking in literal terms.

As a parent and an educator I don't want any adult who speaks this way about ANY student near them. His words are uncalled for. As an adult, he's expected to set a responsible example. He isn't.
ReplyA teacher should be able to deal with unruly students without calling them animals or wanting to tranquilize them. What if a police officer said that?
ReplyHow can you adequately teach students if you've already dubded them animals that should be tranquilized
