Commented "It's obvious how much impact the defense can have, just look back at the 2009 Huskers. The offense was horrible, but the defense nearly won us the conference championship."
Commented "It will boost competition levels and would further legitimize the eventual champion. Everyone knew Florida State would fold under stiff competition, but by virtue of their record, they made the cut. What if Oregon had played a more consistent team? I guess an argument could be made either way. A championship team performs under pressure regardless of opponent and record."
Commented "Naturally it's going to hurt. Unless we end up pulling some previous commits from the schools these coaches are leaving, there's no relationship of current commits to these coaches. Not rocket science. However the fact that everyone has hit the ground running to get a staff in place certainly will make some difference, however it's not like these kids are going to be playing for a huge name coach. See more of a negative than a positive."
Commented "Good grief...I'm not sure longevity and stability were considered in this decision. Additionally it wasn't the right Oregon school most of us were hoping to get a coach from. I'm nervous that we'll see a losing season out of the gate, but of course I wasn't asked. I certainly want this guy to succeed, but, I'm not sure what Vienna Sausage metric was used to determine his "successes"."
Commented "At some point a Coordinator needs to make the move to HC. It's the coordinator that can find the right assistants to compliment their systems and ideas that'll make them successful. Some assistants never have the aspiration, but being an HC as a prerequisite seems unnecessary."
Replied "If Bo could put on the HC and DC caps and get Scott Frost as the OC, I think we'd start in the right direction. Bo has proven to be a great defensive-minded coach and Frost has more than proven his worth as an OC at Oregon...bring that National Champ back home and let him run the offense."
Commented "I can't imagine Nebraska firing him after we let Bill Callahan hand us 2 losing seasons. I think at the most, the AD would "suggest" that he seek out better Assistants such as OC and DC changes. Papuchis shows flashes of "getting it", but then reverts to Craig Bohl and Kevin Cosgrove type performances. If the kids aren't getting it, or consistently doing the wrong things, it HAS to be coaching."
Commented "If OSU, MSU, WU are the 3 best teams and we've lost to 2, where Minnesota has respectably challenged, how would anyone expect NU to be in nothing but a dogfight and only win by luck?"
