Rents should be able to keep up with prop taxes and HOA fees that go up, but they should be commensurate with those things, not exceed. High rents contribute to the lack of affordable housing in Bend.

Without some kind of government control greed will drive the rise of rent due o the housing shortage. Wages will not keep up. Look at homeless in Christmas Valley, or in the Gilchrist area.

It should be affordable for people making minimum wage with children.

Landlords want to make huge profits on their rentals, so that they can keep buying more rental homes in the area. I believe this is recycling the unaffordable housing crisis. They're out of control!

allow 2-4 unit(1-2Brs) structures along arterial streets on larger lots, e.g. 50/55'x100/125' homes on smaller lots are still expensive & do nothing to help renters

Rent control makes an awful situation worse. The solution is for the state and local government to get out of the way of the productive sector.

Property taxes, insurance, HOA dues are all on the rise which forces rental increases. Landlords aren’t in this for charity!! Has to be some give there also otherwise owners will sell!

What a stupid ideal. It will just reduce the numbers of rentals even more.

Government needs to reduce cost such as SDCs and other taxes on rental property. A month ago Bend was considering reducing SDCs for day care - why not for rental housing?

We own 4 rentals in bend. If you put any rent caps on, we WILL sell all of them and move them and us to another state. We owned them during the recession when we were in the negative. Noone helped us

Liberals think big government is best but it is proven over and over the free market is best.

This is just another way to control a free market. Open up land to build new homes on and reduce the restrictions on land use laws

there are already enough things to watch out for at CRR... wildlife, bikes, pedestrians, etc ...and not a sidewalk anywhere... would prefer not to see the result of an ATV vs. auto/truck...

Safe parking programs have a proven track record of successfully taking people from being homeless into having a place of their own. Safe parking programs cut down on costs to cities for ambulance calls, police calls, visits to emergency rooms and mental health crises that costs taxpayers money.

Perhaps? Hiding the un-housed in various random locations doesn't solve much. This is just another band-aid solution! Seems just the latest adaptation of "kicking the can down the road"...?
