a mobile app has a lot more functionality and can prevent false alarms that are common with panic buttons on a lanyard.

Everyone carriers a cell phone with them everywhere. They find it more important to have than any other object (even a school ID). By utilizing a cell phone for a panic alert system for staff, the entire building is safer.

Cell phones are like wallets - everyone remembers to bring them so they are at hand during an emergency.

Not nearly as much as common knowledge that schools are protected by lots of teachers with guns and the training to use them to quickly end threats to students. The CPS Board of Ed is putting our children at greater risk by not implementing such a policy. But that's what to expect from liberals.

Maybe Adam can dream up a better solution than a good gal with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun while he is sleeping.

In fact I can. Neither carry a gun. Or wait and see what happens when that gun a teacher has is misplaced or just taken from them and used in that classroom.

I put more faith in people, not an app, for a child's safety. Cell phones should be banned in school. I might compromise if cell phones where locked in a locker (muted) and/or a zero tolerance policy for cell phones in the classroom. In-between classes, lunch, etc is OK.
