When has the city (or any city) ever purchased historical relevant property and done anything worthwhile? Put up a sign and pat themselves on the back? A private org could do a lot better in preservation than this 'make us look good' tax money grab.

The city is not flush with funds. They are looking at a trash/recycle do over that will cost money and benefit all citizens in a real way. This building is not for all nor is it a real, non-illusory benefit.

There is no conceivable reason for Columbia to buy this building, it will be a on going cost the city (tax payers) don't need!

The city council doesn't care what the voters think, They don't give a crap! The vote was unanimous to purchase the building. 76% of the people said NO on the survey. That tells you all you need to know. Vote them all out of office.

tHEY NEED TO SPEND THE MONEY ON THE INFOSTRUCTURE first and fix the holes in our streets, stop the burn outs, hire more police officers and start preventing crime instead of just reacting to it!

$2 million just to buy it. How much more to remodel it for whatever use they may eventually come up with? Maintain it? How much lost in property tax revenues? Potential sales or other taxes from private use? This seems a gross waste of money. History can be honored other ways.

They were hired by the voters to do a job and they failed. Their obligation is to represent everyplace in their district and they demonstrated nothing but contempt for that obligation and oath.

Measure 113 was clearly an effort by the majority to disenfranchise the minority. This needs to get before the US Supreme Court as quickly as possible. Clearly unconstitutional.

Because most of us voted for the bill to be passed for that reason. They could have pass way more bills that would have benefited all of us.

They did the right thing, keeping the left from passing more bad legislature! I mean look what they have done, defunding police, increased crime rates significantly, especially in Portland, decriminalizing hard drugs, they turned Portland into a a crime ridden, drug ridden slime pit. Vote Republican

CB ... The 14th Amendment for voters rights. Not allowing voters to vote for who they want could be unconstitutional. We shall see :) Oh, Childishly insulting individual's for their opinions is a sign of weakness in ones argument, just saying :)

Lol, what's unconstitutional about it? Gabe, you are regurgitating the BS you hear on Fox News. You don't actually know what you're taking about. I hope it does go to the supreme court so when it's determined to be constitutional, other states follow course. The GOP is a dying, outdated breed.

They didn't show up to their job 10+ times. In the real world, you get fired for that, as should they. They are pathetic disappointments not worthy of their positions.
