In the 1990s, I was upgraded from economy to the old business class seats (before they had flat beds) on a flight from London to JFK. I had a business class seat but economy class meals. Shortly after that, BA introduced their Premium Economy. I was unknowingly testing it out.

After being delayed 3 times because of bad weather at 3 airports in 3 days, American upgraded my seat to first class.

I have never been upgraded, ever. It seems like a fable to me.

Unfortunately no.

Or maybe I should say fortunately! because upgrades are usually associated with the airline upgrading you to comp for a problem they had with your flight.

I try to arrive late in the day so I can get a good night's rest. If I arrive in the morning, it is a must to get outside and let the sun reset your body clock.

We are planning to minimize the effects when heading across to Japan soon. Coming home may be a bit harder of an adjustment.
