It took 15 years, way too long.

Not because he doesn't deserve the death penalty and the world would be a better place without him, the punishment is no longer a deterrent to violent crime. Too many appeals, to many mistakes, shady prosecutors, inept defense lawyers, etc..etc.

Yes&no 1) he took a life so yes he should be held accountable. 2) he had heart issues he should remain life in prison cause he would end life eventually. People who have medical conditions that's on death row should be life in prison instead of leathal injection.

The death penalty makes you what you hate - a murderer. The death penalty makes you a hypocrite. The death penalty is nothing more than collectivized sadism. Abolish the death penalty!

Some Old Testament passages, such as Genesis 9:6, Exodus 21:12-16, Leviticus 24:17-20, Numbers 35:16-18, and Deuteronomy 22:25-27, permit or require capital punishment for serious crimes against human dignity, such as murder.

If anyone, he deserved a deathpenalty. Why victimize the perpetrator ?

Evil action have consequences. Per his statement, he is aware of the wrong he committed. I believe in the value of all human life-but justice is necessary in order to keep society functioning and safe. It is unfortunate he made a choice that resulted in the death of 4, including himself.

I knew Fred Jones and he was as nice of a guy as you could meet. He was not a threat to anyone, and he had his own mental challenges. The murderer did not care. I'm sure Fred will forgive him and God will do the final judgement. No happiness in the execution, at least closure. Justice served.

This was not a passive murder (shooting), he actively beat these three victims to death with a HAMMER.

This man beat the victims with a hammer, with such savagery that the initial investigation, it was thought that they had been shot in their faces with a large shotgun. He should have been put down many years ago.

It is time to stop wasting money on this fool. He should have been executed years ago.

the death penalty is actually far more expensive than a system that utilizes life in prison

Against the death penalty in general, but then there are cases like this one.

regardless of your stance on the death penalty, the supreme court clearly established in 2002 that it is considered "cruel and unusual punishment" to execute someone with a mental disability. Johnson repeatedly scored below the comprehension level of a 5 yr old on disability tests.

Two wrongs don't make a right, it's NOT justice, it's revenge, that is evil. Makes you no better than the Perp.

in response to max de young: 1. no one was advocating this man ever be freed from prison 2. the death penalty is proven to not reduce the amount of violent crimes in a country

But it will prevent another wrong, and that may save an undetermined amount of lives.

There is no way of knowing whether he understood what he was doing when he killed the people.

I'm pretty certain the people he beat to death also failed to understand him too.
