This is a tough question, with no easy answer. The debate of nurture vs nature is real. Kids copy their parents. They learn what their parents teach them. That being said, a flower always grows between the cracks on a sidewalk. Ungrateful parents can still end up with a grateful kid. Kids are in school and in the community. Somewhere along the line, they may find others who are grateful and like the feeling they get from gratefulness too.
