The only long-term solution to high housing costs is more housing.

Tax Payer subsidized housing projects have been tried before... They Don't Work because government taxes/subsidies run out (New York). Get rid of Urban Growth Boundaries.

Why? Everything the government touches get more expensive and fails in the long run.

As an airline pilot and someone who previously walked in that area on the East side of Bend, I am totally against the city ruining yet another nice area of town. And the discounted homes for teachers is BS, These are the same people who ditched our kids during Covid while everyone else had to work.

Right, that's why property values are plummeting and people are leaving in droves. 🙄

Sounds like a nice socialist housing project planned by government Marxist subsidized by hard working TAX Payers. Oregon needs to get rid of Urban Growth Boundaries and open land up for investment and create competition so contractors can build witch would increase supply & bring down some cost.

Bend is already overpopulated and has lost much of what made it such a nice place to live - namely, the beautiful natural areas in and around it that have been covered over with roads, subdivisions and businesses. If we stop building more neighborhoods and businesses, people will stop moving here.

Parking is necessary for businesses to survive. Monies should be spent on the needs of the majority of people.

The majority of people drive. It doesn't make sense to spend a disproportionate amount of money on something used by a very small portion of the population.

Completely agree. We are seeing way to much increase in spending. No more roundabouts, no more parks, no more spending. The economy is bad and people are paying much higher prices for everything but still our local government is spending.

We aren't Portland and we don't want to be Portland. Stop wasting our money on a very small percentage of the populace. Bend is growing way to fast and parking for cars is needed.

I quit going to downtown Bend because the parking is a disaster. Not building parking will NOT decrease vehicle travel it only creates congestion and traffic stress. I have no problem with bike lanes just the spandex nazis that use them.

I believe increasing parking will cause higher demand because it is move available, improving alternatives will generate demand for those instead and lessen the parking issue.

We purchased E-Bikes, we use them to commute to work, medical appointments go shopping and most other locL travel needs. The biggest drawback(s) are lack of safe places to park them.

its nice you can afford an expensive e bike when most of the population has to cut back to 1 or 2 meals a day so they can afford rent.
