Because the trump administration claims to support free speech unconditionally while trying to prevent people they don't agree with from exercising that right. Hypocrites like that have no business trying to silence free speech in others, just because they dislike them.

The 1st Amendment only applies to the government, not your employee. Also we do not have a democracy, we have a Constitutional Republic. You are not knowledgeable of what you are commenting about.

I’m glad we live in a country where Jimmy Kimmel can stay on the air, however we’ll vote with our remote and NOT watch abc17 at all.

ABC got caught in their own trap. They encouraged Kimmel until the affiliates and the public objected so they fired him. Then ABC's loyal fan base started threatening ABC so ABC folded to the pressure. The affiliate still won't air the shows, and now everyone is angry with ABC. It's called, Karma

Until they apologize for getting Rosanne canceled over a tweet I have no sympathy for them losing their jobs for the same reason. They called it "accountability". Ok. It still is. You set the standard. Live with it.

So the company you work for has the authority to restrict your right to free expression on social media and fire you if you post something they disagree with?

Employee A inflates expense account and pockets $1000. Employee B posts/rants on social media company loses a $100k customer. Bottom line both instances lose money for company. What's to understand ??

It’s disrespectful to Charlie. He didn’t believe in empathy and was not ignorant to the dangers of gun violence here. He would be disgusted by all of the crying people are doing. If you respected him you would respect his opinions abt this

I never heard of this guy before he was murdered, but it looks like he had a track record of saying awful things, and fomented the conditions in society that led to his demise. That's very tragic, but there are other people more deserving of a day.

Although his murder was sad and despicable, Kirk was a hateful person. He was a misogynist, xenophobe, homophobe, racist and white nationalist who taught hate and division. His beliefs were not Christian.

Though this is a tragic incident and a terrible time of violence in our country, Mr. Kirk was not an elected official. We should honor his family and respect them in many ways and I certainly have sympathy for his family. But this does not warrant aday in Oregon devoted to his name or his politics.

A highly partisan figure in American politics should never be given a day of observance for any reason. It should be acknowledge that violence is not acceptable in any form for any reason, but it should not be honored and given Publicity because of it.

This guy was homophobic, racist, and anti women’s rights. While I think his murder is wrong, he is not a hero. He encouraged hatred towards people he didn’t agree with their lifestyles in his “teachings”. I don’t think Jesus would support him…he preached love for everyone!
