The sample size here was kind of small and they weren’t specifically looking at the vertical jump difference, but it was fairly substantial (about 10cm). Also of note is that the afro-caribbean participants represent only a specific slice of a very diverse population of African people. Likely they are primarily of west African descent, and you might get different results for other groups from other parts of Africa Show Less

A good theory is that there is simply a wider gene pool in Africa as it has been populated way longer than the rest of the world. Only one small segment of the whole African gene pool left Africa to populate the rest of the world. And that gene pool has had a limited to mutate and adapt although some of the adaptations such as skin color and hair texture appear very dramatic. But genetically speaking, they are very very minor changes. Show Less
