Prince was from Minneapolis and returned to Minnesota after retiring from his vaunted career, and his death was tragic. Having some type of memorial to the hometown hero was completely appropriate given the large audience that watched Super Bowl LII. Justin Timberlake's moving duet with Prince used modern holographic technology to make it appear as if the two were singing on stage together, and it was a perfect moment. Many current musicians and stars owe their careers to Prince.

There were many other ways to pay tribute to Prince at the Super Bowl. Prince despised the use of holograms, which several Twitter uses and Prince fans noted. Other people felt as if Justin Timberlake was exploiting Prince's death to elevate his own career. Prince didn't have a say in his performance, even though his ex-wife Sheila E approved of the performance. Timberlake should have showed more class.
