Clear-cut logging of the past helped create our unhealthy forests - and fires were a natural part of the system.

Cutting down more trees will not end the drought, nor place more moisture in the air. It could make the forests drier thus creating more fires. Clearing out deadwood, creating more firebreaks, works

I don't think logging is the answer, that means only marketable timber. The thick small trees and underbrush are what causes the hotter fires. Thinning would be the answer.

It only makes sense to selectively log and remove ground debris. Just like cleaning house
ReplyI am old enough to remember our beautiful forests when logging was in full swing. Just like a garden, the forests need to be tended. Wasn't that one of the first jobs given man in the Garden of Eden?
ReplyDo selective logging and clean up after it.
ReplyThere are too many dead and dying trees in the forests. The forests are overgrown because there has been mismanagement for decades.
Replyit would be much better land management then what is happening at the present time: fewer fuel for fires.
