Because it was wrong to be classified along with heroin and hard drugs back then and it wrong now. States have finally began decriminalizing it, and so should feds. Detractors claim it ruins lives. I would respond that it is the criminalizing of it that ruins lives (in the land of the free)

Data centers benefit the corporations who profit from this technology, but AI robs the country of jobs and spends massive energy resources on memes and false information. There are good uses for AI, but the technology is moving way too fast and should be slowed to balance energy needs with AI value.
