Head coaching experience is there but he's never proven that he can recruit at the high-major level.

He can coach teams that run the floor nearly identical to Hoiball (including forgetting that defense is part of the game too), but can he recruit enough to keep up with Kansas? How he builds for 2016-17 will be more important how he performs in 2015-16

I'm on the fence with this hire. We'll see if Coach Prohm can be successful in a top three MBB conference.

As long as TJ stays on Staff I like the hire.
ReplyPROVIDED TJ STAYS ON STAFF. IF NOT THEN NO i DISLIKE THIS HIRE A LOT
ReplyAbsolutely love the hire. Both for this year and years to come. A++++++++
ReplyMost proven track record of those who were interviewed, he gets my vote. Faces an extremely uphill battle, trying to win over fans and players who absolutely adored his predecessor.
ReplyLove the style of play and he's a winner!
Replyawesome hire. too bad so many butt hurt OTZ fans
ReplyHas HC experience. Similar offensive philosophy. Great character. It does suck that we will likely lose TJ this year or next though. He will be someones HC soon.
ReplyShow TJ Otzelberger the money, must retain him, it is critical to have him as a recruiter. Do Not let him slip away!!!
ReplySounds like he may have similar philosophy to Hoiberg
ReplyLike the tempo, like his previous recruiting, like his record. If he can keep T.J. and even better. Biggest question mark is level of competition.
ReplyWanted him or TJ. Hopefully TJ stays on staff.
ReplySeems to value quick hitting offensive sets. Hopefully he can help this team improve on the defensive side and recruit high level hs kids.
ReplySimilar style offense and head coaching experience and proven success at a lower level. Hopefully it translates to the high majors.
ReplyIf he keeps Tj, beats UNI, IOWA, WIns the BIG 12 tournament, Goes to the elite eight, then he was the right hire. Replacing Fred is not going to be easy. He is not Iowa State, not Ames, not the Mayor. Good luck, you'd better beat Colorado and Texas A&M
ReplyBiggest requirement was to find a successful coach with similar style of play. Seems to have great character as well!
ReplyOnly if T.J. stays on staff, could be an interesting season.
ReplyRight system, right personality, let's see if he rises to the occasion.
