Sending down the player who is having arguably the best spring in baseball could be to the Cubs advantage. They will be able to keep Bryant from free agent eligibility for an extra year by waiting a few weeks to bring him back up to the big leagues, so it seems to be in the best interest of the club. Show Less

If you're the Cubs, you protect the service time of your players. The Giants did the same thing with Buster Posey and he still got his money before free agency. Bryant will too, as long as he performs to his potential.

Normally..i'd vote NO every time..but since baseball has real RANDOM rules ("....but if Bryant spends 12 days in the minors to start the 2015 season, the Cubs will gain an EXTRA YEAR until he is eligible for free agency..)..I guess they can wait the two weeks. If it goes longer...that's just dumb!

No, for one thing what they are doing is morally wrong and isn't fair to Bryant who has earned his spot on the big league team hitting .425 with nine home runs and 15 RBI this spring. It could also be detrimental to the Cubs this season having to go a little while without Bryant's bat. They could lose games because of it. Show Less

I think that they are, in a sense, punishing Bryant for being talented which is just unfair. I get that they are looking out for the club's best interest in the long term but this just doesn't seem right!!

No! The extra travelling is too much for the players who have to play everyday. Plus, isn't the purpose of the World Baseball Classic to expand the game internationally anyway?!

It is hard enough on West Coast teams that have the longest travel schedules like Seattle and Oakland! Think if they had to fly to London! That is ridiculous!! The WBC is played by MLB rules and exposes other nations to the game. That should be enough!

Yes and that goes for any player! You're in the line up and your team is in last place (and don't have signs of improving un-like teams like the A's, or Jays!
