This is the way it's always been, ever since the playoff was created it had 4 so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Going to eight dilutes the regular season. How many years have there been more than three teams go undefeated? How many times have there been more than 6 even discussed as being the best in the country over an entire season?

Doesn't matter what kind of playoff or rating system is in place there will always be controversy from fans & writers who think #5 or #17 or #33 got screwed and left out of the mix. Any more teams involved will take a toll on the regular season and then the extended season. Not every kid goes on to the NFL and many are in fact students.

8 teams gives you a true number. The other division do it and it works great. Lets get with the times.

Allows for hot teams near the end of the season.

There were legitimate Teams left out in TCU and Baylor, at least on paper. I think 4 will be a little thin if you have 5 or more unbeaten Power 5 Teams.

How many times has there been more than 2 undefeated teams at the end of the season?

Simple solution... 6 Power Conference Champions (determined by their championship games) PLUS the next 2 top ranked team using BCS formula. IF their from the same conference, so be it. If they're Boise State and Fresno State, SO be it!! This is the max needed.

With 3 of the remaining 4 January games on the road, it will be an uphill climb in remaining playoff undefeated.

They r playing really well but I just don’t see them winning out in January, they live and die by the 3 and it’s gonna end up costing them, not much inside the paint game. I see everyone standing outside the 3 line wanting to shoot the 3 but no one ever inside to get rebounds, wont work against Mich

Probably not - that's expecting a lot - but regardless, what they've accomplished is nothing short of extraordinary.

This team is really good and they will continue to give themselves a chance in every game, but...3 of the next 4 on the road, including Michigan? That's a tough run. If they win out in January and beat Illinois at home on February 1st, they'll be #1 in the country the next day.

What should define Nebraska’s running back room heading into 2026?

One clear feature back

Feature back is important to have but DEPTH is also CRITICAL. If don't have a feature back then either then depth chart is flooded with talent. But in the Big Ten you better have a GREAT 2nd and 3rd string to make it through the season. With EJ it helped he was so quick he didn't take huge hits

Nebraska was always most stable when we had a feature back that can actually "carry" the team with his legs.

Nebraska in the past was successful with one top back. We've fallen on hard times because we haven't developed or recruited a great back. But the others need to be developed so we have a pipeline of backs like we use to have.

Roger Craig & Tom Rathman ring a bell ? Not only a dynamic duo playing for NU, but also for the 49ers !! YES we want multiple RB’s to rotate in & out to keep their legs fresh!! GBR 🎈

Look at the success in the playoff, the teams have 2-3 capable RB's they use to keep them healthy and offer the D different looks. Johnson was unique, most backs can't take that many snaps a season and stay healthy and sharp.

Every good team, including the NFL, will rotate backs on a regular basis. This last year Nebraska should have used a 2nd running back more often - NEB is lucked out EJ stayed healthy.

Different backs have skills for different situations.
