They were close in 2016, and we have up graded in many areas.

With a new QB and new emphasis on offense, and a new D.C. And new scheme on defense, there is too much that is new to expect the team to play like veterans. They will need time to adjust. I would expect a lot more in 2018.

No but funny! We need to beat average teams before we worry about championships.

New D.C., lack of offensive line depth and a new QB plus a tough schedule = 8/9 wins. I'll take it

We're not there yet -- Penn State and Minnesota on the road are two likely losses, and the home schedule is brutal.

New passing type QB, O-Line that will get our non-running type QB sacked, losing our top receivers to graduation, implementing a new defensive scheme and losing our top Safety, and to top it off a very tough schedule. 6-6 or 7-5 next year.

really 4-8 HCMR has had no success in college what makes you think he will here let alone next yr. two things we need dual threat QB and run the ball neither will happen we could not block this yr. what makes you think it will be better next with just a passer and no threat to run ?????

Looks like we are rebuilding again. Don't see us doing any better than 3rd in the west. That's where we are these days. A little better than Minnesota, not as good as Iowa...

New QB and a new defense. Going to take superlative talent for that to happen, so unlikely.

Qb. Oline. Offense could be very good. Back 7 on d should be good Concerns at rb depth and unknowns on interiour d line.

With their schedule, they might be able to make it this year.

They are as much a potential playoff team as Arizona State and Indiana were last year. There is no harm is fans dreaming big. A team with a recent history like Nebraska is going to put it together this year. Why not the Huskers?

Just wishful thinking but I believe the talent is there. We will need a few breaks but it is possible.

They have a schedule that gets to the year 3 Matt Rhule 10 wins. If they can hang with Penn St. then they could be in the conversation as a 10-2, 11-1 team.

They haven’t done anything on the field to warrant that expectation. But there is nothing wrong with the team setting it as a goal and striving to reach that goal.

Immanuel Kant would say no, but he had a very strict definition of reason. I can only imagine him pooh-poohing the Huskers because Rhule is compulsed to pass the ball on clear running downs. Afraid to actually hand the ball to the fullback on 3rd and 1. And instead is in the shotgun. NO THEY KANT!

Thry’ll be better this year, but I think 9-3 or 8-4 are likely which keeps them out of contention this year. My hope is that by year 4 under Rhule will finally get them ibto the playoff picture

They are a 6-6 football team until proven otherwise.

No on field results to support that yet. History told us talks are simply empty statements

NU has not been able to recruit top notch players. The media has led fans to believe that 3 star players can be molded into 4 and 5 stars. That dog don’t hunt?

They need to prove they belong. Still to ,many players on the squad that played on bad teams and don't know how to win yet.

He was a tackling machine with a less talented defensive line in front of him at Georgia Southern. He will have bigger gaps and less linemen reaching him IMO

Dick Butkus is the best Big Ten linebacker. But Watson-Trent might be the best ever with a hyphen in his name. Jack Ham is the best Big Ten linebacker to have the middle name Raphael. LaVar Arrington is the best to have a capital V inexpliccably inserted into his frist name. The list goes on.
