There is nothing partisan or unreasonably rigid about the historical refusal of decades of American Presidents to sit down with the North Korean leadership. A face-to-face, accompanied by a plea for better behavior does nothing but legitimize a brutal autocracy that should be wiped off the map with no further ado.

We have too many enemies already. Between Trump's withdrawal from the deals with Russia and Iran, it's nice to see some diplomatic progress. Maybe Trump is drawing inspiration from Nixon's historic China visit; such a development is likelier to have good results than more of his aggressive foot-stomping. It's time to bury the hatchet.
