He clearly anticipated that the bill would not provide the funding he requested, and planned accordingly. I was happy to see that he finally went ahead and demanded the tools that will enable him to satisfy his campaign promises to keep our borders safe. I was even more impressed that he did it while avoiding another lengthy shutdown.

While I was relieved to avoid another shutdown, I think that Trump’s decision to declare an emergency was out of line, and ultimately it will do little more than waste more time...

While I was relieved to avoid another shutdown, I think that Trump’s decision to declare an emergency was out of line, and ultimately it will do little more than waste more time, resources, and energy. Why can’t he accept that being the President means that he represents the entire nation? Just because he has the power to do something, it doesn’t mean that he should. He would do well to abandon his petulant-child mode and roll up his sleeves to work with the rest of the American government.
