City transferred extra cost to citizens. Instead of just dropping bags at the curb, now we all have double the work to bring roll cart back to our houses, open garage door, pull SUV out to get roll cart in, pull SUV back in, close garage. Huge environmental cost in electricity and gas - how sad.

Come on, it's a roll cart. The exercise will be good for you. It's arguably easier to roll a cart twice than to carry heavy bags once.
Eyesores that will make our neighborhoods look trashy and cost jobs for minority men.

No one wants that gross and dangerous job, slinging bags. There is no need to make this a racist or social issue, it's picking up the trash. At taxpayer expense. Doing so in a cost effective manner. Doh!
The citizens of Columbia voted this down before. I would think that the city would put it to a vote of the people again instead of deciding for us.

That election was rigged with heavily biased wording. A mistake the voters should never allow to happen again. That bordered on election fraud in the eyes of some. An attempt at voter manipulation, for sure.
The citizens of Columbia voted against roll carts, yet the city manages to disregard them.

That was a very poorly worded election, seemingly purposely done. And now that people realize they were fooled, they will actually read the ballots closer.
Space is limited and they will be seen all over Columbia in front yards. Ugly, and hard to roll.

The majority of homeowners will bring them in. Deal with exceptions when they come up IMO.
We had them while living in Flagstaff, Arizona. More snow there than here, and it was no big deal, you adapt.

ReplyIt is probably the most cost effective method of waste collection. And when it comes to spending taxpayer money, how can anyone argue with a proven system that costs significantly less in the long run. The only negatives to them are people who can't understand them.

ReplyYes, it just makes sense. It's 2023 and modern day trash collection techniques have changed. I hate self checkout, but that's the direction things are going nowadays. Get with the times or be lost in the past!!
