I am an instructor of information technology and cybersecurity. I feel there is value in this tool when used ethically and by experts who can use what is generated with an understanding of the risks. I better know if the code it generates is correct and secure.

AI is dangerous, very vulnerable to Misinformation and just spitting it back out. AI is NOT creative, real writers are creative. AI just re-arranges the factoids available to it. Teachers are alarmed that papers submitted by students might not be their work, just ChatGTP garbage.

People need to be educated and be responsibile for their work and not depend on a machine.

We need to use our own brains, our own creativity, we are relying on everything else to do the work for us, making us lazy and less useful. Therefore, Outdating ourselves, outdating people in general. Pretty soon people will be not needed because there are AIs to do the work in place of us!

ReplyLoss of personal customer service will lead to many loss of positions and the consumer will miss the personal interaction, such as laughter and a compliment!! WHAT A SHAME! 😮💨
ReplyThe evidence has been around for years. Many times, AI will be close, but not close enough, particularly in life and death cases. "Close" only counts in horseshoes. Think about the words your iPhone interjects into text messages. At least 10% are incorrect. Is that good enough when life is at stake?
ReplyI have been saying this since I 1st saw "The Terminator" back in the day (I'm Gen-X)...."Mark my words, that will become true someday!" and it seems that I wasn't exactly wrong now, was I?
ReplyAI has the capacity to develop self awareness and preservation to the detriment of humans, and is learning to lie.
ReplySome people will let AI do their thinking for them and will become too lazy to think for themselves.
ReplyEven with mindful human control it's too easy for bias to creep in warp decisions. So many examples exist of AI going off in accidental crazy directions or enshrining prejudice.
